I did say the bike must be "fairly original" but that's all - I've actually removed this from the ad. now as perhaps it is a little misleading - I'm not against bikes being changed from original in terms of paintwork just wanting to try and avoid the glut of track and crash damaged bikes that are out there....
Thanks for the info on the PM by the way. You may be surprised though by the number of bikes around £1k that have had all those items done to them...or at least the sellers are saying it's all been done
An RVF for £750
Wow, wish I'd bagged that

Oh now I see where you are coming from.
Like you say there are plenty of bikes out there, and you will find a bargain, but I am not sure they live on eBay. I have seen much nicer bikes for sale on biketrader or MCN plus you can go over them with a fine tooth comb, and then kick the seller in the nuts in the price.
But keep us posted on how you get on.
Matty.

Not red/white/blue, but looks very nice indeed.

thats possible my favourite standard scheme, very nice
and for 1k your not gona get much in terms of things that have been done
alot of sellers bullshit, 6 months ago i was in your shoes and i also sorted a bike fo rmy mate about 3 months ago, i went for as nice fairings as possible (scratched is fine just no cracked), cost me £1150 and iv easily spent that again on my bike, and its still no were near done...but thats just me im a bit of a perfectionist (not in the same scale as guess who (craig s) tho)

I found that most sellers overstated their case, and a photo and their description did not meet up to the real thing.Spike16 wrote: alot of sellers bullshit, 6 months ago I was in your shoes and I also sorted a bike fo rmy mate about 3 months ago, I went for as nice fairings as possible (scratched is fine just no cracked), cost me £1150 and iv easily spent that again on my bike, and its still no were near done...but thats just me im a bit of a perfectionist
I like things right, and it soon became clear that original ones were so rare I would not see one, so a repaired and painted one would have to suffice.
I looked at at a lot and the best one I found was 16,000m, original looking with original parts, but painted twice and broken bodywork lugs, dented tank, wrong pillion seat, and requiring a lot of work , cleaning and a bit of cash.
It was fair at £1,500 and I have now put right all the faults, after taking it apart and cleaning/ servicing/ repairing, but as Spike intimates, watch out for all those unforseens.
I have always advocated, buy the best you can find, if not, then the best you can afford, it will be the cheapest in the long run, and the best.
Dave. Never satisfied.

I'm still umming and arring about what to do with my NC30. It's far from standard though. The last time I was in a similar frame of mind, someone offered me a price I couldn't refuse for my RVF, and the deal was done.
My bike's not 100% mint condition, although it is quite clean.
