NC24 Paddock Stand....ARGH

Post by Manticorp »

Right

so

After much searching i finally found a paddock stand...FOR AN NC30

Without much ado, I purchased, figuring that it would most certainly be compatable with an NC24

However....

It doesn't!

Now, this is my first bike, so I do not know if I'm just being a bit simple here (Never having used a paddock stand) but the thing from the paddock stand fits INSIDE the spindle bolt right? i.e through the middle of the wheel? and also, from the laft hand side of the bike (as if you were sitting on it)?

I Fear i may have wasted a good £50 on a paddock stand that doesn't fit my bike... =/

please someone tell me otherwise? please? I'm running out of money!

Cheers

Harry

It sounds about right - what size hole is it for your spindle?

You might find a real cheap old triumph stand or the like? Some stanbds you can change the spindle to suit whch could be cheaper for you :?:

Firstly, thanks for the quick response!

Using my trusty ruler (calipers = non existant in this house) i'd say the hole is somewhere around 17-19mm, which if i recall is the spindle size for an RVF400?

Mmmm...if i can find a new spindle for this cheapo german manufactured stand then i think that'd be a miracle...

I think I'll be changing my chain n sprockets without a stand today :/

Thanks!

Can't help much in the way of answers that CMSMJ1 hasn't already done, but RVF and VFR spindles are the same size paddock stands.

Are they? Hmmm I read on the wikipedia entry for the RVF that it used a different size spindle? 17mm as opposed to 22mm? :o

It's okay though, I'm just going to have to sell on that paddock stand, so if anyone's looking for an NC30 paddock stand, I've got one! :D

Meanwhile...Chain replacement is coming along...looks like I'll be walking places tomorrow though before i buy an 8mm allen key! :P

That would be really helpful if you could, there's no rush though, managed to borrow an abba stand for the moment to get this repair job done :) but the info would be really helpful for the future!
