Exhaust hanger

Hi,

I got a scorpion exhaust off internet and i am getting it custom fitted, i dont want it to take the same angle as the old one(pretty flat) so i want an exhaust hanger to go where the bolts are for the pillion handles. does anyone know a specific exhaust hanger that will fit the two holes for where pillion handle was ? or if anyone can help at all with this matter.

If it's a CB-1 you can use the rear hangers from a 92-99 CBR900, but be aware it'll crunch the pillion's legs up a bit. If you use the bike solo only you could try for an aftermarket hanger for that bike.

Here's a few more ideas, but do note I had a CBR400 swingarm and rearsets, which considerably increased the space in that area. You wouldn't get away with the underslung silencer on a standard machine. I liked the stubby, though.

If it's for a CB400SF you'll struggle to do anything and still clear the footpeg hangers, I'd imagine.

I wish the forum owners would do something more clever with pictures. I can't be bothered with resizing them, click the links.

Hello. Me new to forum. Nice pics of CB1. What model CBR did swingarm and footrests come off of? Are they both a straight fit, or do they need alterations? Is the stubby pipe a modified standard pipe? I wouldn't mind one for my own bike as it is a single seater despatch tool.

It's fair to say it's not a bolt-on deal.

The stubby can is a chopped up normal can with 52mm clamp inlet that I stubbied after I crashed and landed on it. The GP style effort is just the can bolted straight onto the original system, but you can't do it on standard bike, only with the arm and probably also footrests. I doubt it'd work with the centre stand still on, either. The link pipe is custom made.

The footrests are made by Beet Racing of Japan, modified to take a standard CB-1 right peg and lever and an NC29 left peg and lever. The rearsets are very very rare, I'm afraid.

Shame about the rearsets. It would seem that there aren't a lot of after market exhausts about for CB1. Nice job on yours. I was perusing the CB1 forum earlier and came across Redfox's bike. Very nice underslung pipe on that one. Perhaps I ought to be on that forum as it caters for the CB1 specifically. One last question. I have just picked up a ratty old Version R Super4, hoping to use front end and possibly exhaust on CB1. Do you know of any snags I may come across fitting said parts? Cheers.

The front end should be easy enough if you have all the parts, you may have to use the super four clutch cable also due to the longer bars.

The exhaust doesn't fit, I think. I vaguely remember someone tried it once, and the head on the SF is at a different angle so it wasn't even close.

The other forum is a very good knowledge base more targetted toward the CB1.

Redfox wrote that with the underslung pipe, his bike really didn't fuel well, there's a dyno graph somewhere on his site that shows the bike ran much better with a silencer. Mine was just a short-term bodge after my crash.

Thanks for info. I was thinking of keeping CB1 clip-ons and sliding in the forks, wheel and brakes. Is the CB master cylinder sufficient for double discs?

No, it's only 11mm and won't work correctly. The double disc one will be 1/2" or 14mm most probably, which doesn't sound like much difference but it really, really is. You can use the SF one, it'll just look a little odd and leave your mirror at a jaunty angle, but better than the brakes you'd have if you mix and match. The lever would hit the handlebar.

ok thanks for the help, i have a cb400 super four can anyone and everyone send me all their pictures of their bikes with sports exhausts fitted so i can get ideas how to get mine fitted as its being done by a custome exhaust place.
