found out today how good the NC30 engine is
well i bought a dog of an NC30 a few months ago for a project and it had done many neglected miles. the engine smoked and smelt like it was burning alot of oil so i sent it to a good friend of mine who is a mechanic, he has stripped it down to see if he could solve the problem. had the phone call i was dreading yesterday and went along to his workshop for the good and bad news. looking over the amazing engineering (i know nothing about engines but can appreciate that these are works of art!) he explained that the engine is still like brand new! the bores are unmarked as are the pistons, everything appears to be fine? thats the good news. the bad news is he has no idea why it was smoking and has decided to clean and inspect the rest of the engine to see if he can solve the problem. also he said he would like to rebuild it with genuine honda parts as in a full gasket set, valve stem oil seals, piston rings etc to make it a proper job. so looks like david silver spares are gonna be loving my buisness soon as im sure all these bits arent cheap!

Do you know how much a gasket set is?
If not you are in for a shock. Let us know how you get on.
