Red and White Tank -more like orange and white?

Post by moblies »

The Red on the top of my tank is pretty much orange, the only red left is where the old tank pad was. I guess theres no chance it will polish up? T-Cut didn't seem to do alot apart from making it shine orange.

looks like you will have to get it resprayed to achieve the red colour you once had..........

is the colour on the tank noticeably different to the colour on the fairing?

the only downside is it's an expensive shopping list when it comes to respraying and fixing dents etc........

if i had enough cash i would get all my fairings fixed and resprayed but i reckon it would cost about £500

f :Soap: k that!!!!!!!

Well I still have a couple of other jobs to do before I get to the plastics like,
1) Sort the blowing exhaust but I think one of the members on here does that service
2) Replace the dodgy rear indicators
3) Clutch Cable hopefully thats all it is (stiff as old boots to pull in)
4) Rear Brake caliper binding very slightly aparently not an MOT failure but needs doing.

And a service, not sure but I probably should check the Valve clearances, I read the guide and it sounded easy not sure I like the idea of removing carbs and playing with the Internals though.

A second hand Red and White tank in good nick and still toying with the idea of the cheap set of Red white and Black fairings on Fleabay (PVC) loads of people buying them but probably cheap and nasty feel to them.

I have got some plastex and was going to repair mine but as you say getting them painted is expensive unless I buy a compressor and have a go at spraying them myself (black might be more forgiving)

something to think about

I really should start stripping the plastics off or it will never get done.

yep,get stuck in or like you say....it will never get done!!!!

don't worry about taking the carbs off, getting them back is a bit tricky but patience is the key.also the more you do it the better and faster you will become.

i had a problem with my carbs early last year and i had them on and off more times than i would like to think, but now i would never think twice about removing them and stripping them down.

i always find the manual comes in handy just in case something gets you stumped etc.

you may manage to get a tank on ebay,im sure i noticed one on the now but no doubt it will be damaged or needing reprayed.

Thats what I thought, and might aswell check the Valve Clearances as they will need doing at some point.

Thanks

Thanks,

I need to take a better look at the exhaust, I can see the Halfords Exhaust Repair and a couple of clips holding it on. If it is the usual place (collars I take it it's easy to get off?

Thanks
