They are interesting bikes...
but to me that double vacuum cleaner tube thing feeding the airbox does look hideous, the ZXRs had it for a while too, hmmmm. Its a real porker too look at the size of it, and its only a 750! Thank god for those designers that slimmed things down a bit. A late model 1000 would really look tiny next to that thing. I must say Joey does not look like he fits it too well, he's struggling. At least he always kept the good style, no ridiculous knee down looking like a clown.
I still remember so clearly that day in the workshop when it was announced he'd highsided his 125 Honda into a tree, oops. Thats racing. He did tend to ride like he had a bit of a death wish though, as did his late brother. Typical TT men! I know that opinion may grate with some of you but I have raced on open road circuits. You wouldn't even get to the start line if you were thinking about how you'd like your eggs cooked the next morning.
There is much romance about the TT, I have personally welcomed two mates back from it in a wooden box, and we also nearly lost Shaun Harris last year. I think Agostini deserves every bit of credit he gets and more to have organised the Riders strike in the early 70s and had it taken off the World Champinonship, it just could not go on like that.
Win or die tryin? Thats intelligent. Call me a fool I'll differ, and I bet I could teach you a few lessons too.
Those TT guys would not care how a bike looked or what decals it had on, they just go as hard as they need to to stay in front. You up it, so will they. The result is so often the same. You cannot beat the odds for ever and to me no one ever was supremely better than anyone else.
