bits and peices are arriving fast now,07 r6 shock,linkeage and tie bars were purchased for £50,tank for £27,ecu, and the sp frame has had the dents taken ouy of the frame by a local engineering firm.im also going to try and fit some 4xv 98 r1 forks on this one.ive got hold of a set that have been modded to run in an early r6 that my pal used on his fz750 thunderbike racer and have now ended up with me.i know alot of racers have converted to r6 forks so my reasoning is that they will go in hybrid no.2 with the added bonus of some upside down forks though they may need some work with damping rates etc.the frame and swingarm will be off to be powder coated soon(satin black) so all is progressing well.just need a motor and loom now.this time im going to use the donor motors loom to make life a bit easier this time(thanks again tim).im just waiting for the right engine tcat or fzr to come up at the right price.and i also need a rear wheel spindle and swingarm spindle if any bodys got one.if any of you guys need a replacement set of down pipes for your hybrid d&k are flogging off 3he/4jh/ and genesis stainless downpipes for 75 quid with free delivery on e-bay-bargain!

i collected a tcat engine for laj, looks to be quite a good one, been stored for a while but i'd give him a shout sure he'd do a decent deal for a forum member!

well the engines arrived in the shape of a very tidy 21000 mile 97 thundercat,with brand new tyres,c&s,fork seals and lots of receipts for £550 quid.its almost a shame to dimantal it but im looking forward to finding out what other bits i can use for the project.the blue spot calipers will go straight on my r1 forks,so i can reuse the master cylinder amd levers,cables and stuff.riding it home the motors alot smoother than the 4jh fzr in my sp and it also spins up quicker and hangs on to its revs longer so it should be great in a light nimble chassis as the t/cat feels a bit of a bus fter riding a svelt and light 400.i just need my frame back and i can start bolting some stuff together.

the frames back now and it looks like the 4xv r1 forks will go in without too much trouble.they came from a mates fz750 thunderbike race bike and the yokes are r1 with an r6 stem but it looks like the 3tj stem will fit if it needs to.unfortunately i noticed one of the lockstops needs a blob of weld as its been twatted hard at some point so will have to go back for some minor surgery to make sure the r1 lockstops can interface with it if need be(hope not!).ive got just about everything else i need bar a few minor bits and peices.the t/cat motor is sweet and has already been fitted with a dynojet kit and came with a recent dyno sheet showing 100.1 bhp so it should be a flyer when it eventually coughs into life.the t/cat loom will be used to keep he wiring fairly straightforward as it will have a daytime m.o.t so i can at least try it out and test it.progress has been painfully slow due to xmas and work but hope to get cracking when the frame comes back again-i may do a few different things this time,like a bdk ride height adjuster and some other bits but it should(hopefully) be a real weapon for my limited track talents-come on spring where are you!!! p.s any body got any tidy standard sp fairing panels and nosecone they might want to sell as i need to tidy up the other one,i may also have some 3tj bits for sale,sp shock(needs refurb) stainless fzr600 downpipes and ecu and an sp front wheel and some other bits possibly-cheers,steve

yep its served me well this year and i havnt managed to smash it into tiny peices(yet) by the way how much are those 8mm quick release fuel couplings?

I've got some fairing lowers if you want some.

If you get it dyno'd after the build we can see how much the air box affects performance (if the original dyno's to be believed)

ive had second thoughts on the sp frame for hybrid no 2 after i spotted a 4dx frame on e-bay with a log book.the lockstop had taken a big hit and i started to worry that it may not be straight and figured that for the price of getting a new log book for the old sp frame if i could win the 4dx frame for under 30 quid it would be a no brainer.i managed to win it for 26 pounds in the end and hopefully should have it by the end of the week so work can start in earnest.the sp frame may be tottaly straight but living on the isle of wight access to frame straightening requires a ferry trip(expensive) and time which i dont have much of at the moment.daft question time-i presume the 3tj and 4dx frames are exactly the same and an sp subframe will bolt straight on,anyone know any different.
