Q: How long does it take an exhaust fabricator to come up with a 4:2 system for a VFR...?

A: So far, 6 months and counting.

Happy Christmas everybody - hope to have news of some progress in the New Year...

That sounds rather excessive. Unless you're committed to that company maybe you should look elsewhere.

Still here, but...

I finally got back the bike plus a custom built 4-2 exhaust system (separately, in a box) and a bill for £750!

Paid half the bill pending a successful test fitting and bolted it all together - the front bank/right side assembly fitted OK but when I bolted up the rear bank/left side with all the gaskets fitted the outlet sat so close to the swingarm that it was impossible to fit the silencer.

I phoned the guy to make him aware, he promised to come round and sort it out - that was four weeks ago and despite regular reminders he still hasn`t shown up.

I used this company by way of supporting a local business and keeping transport costs down but TBH, I`m starting to wish that I`d never set eyes on him...

The system uses stock front cylinder down pies and aftermarket mufflers, all of which I supplied so all that I`ve actually got for my money is a simple 2-1 collector for the front cylinders and an admittedly more complex rear header - he decided to freestyle that, it doesn`t even resemble the design sketch that I supplied.

It goes without saying that I won`t be recommending this outfit or using them again...!

In the meantime, I haven`t been idle -

The KR-1/YPVS stroker project is complete bar a few final bits of plumbing and wiring, the bodywork is now away at the painters and with luck I shall have it running on the bench within a week or so - the dry weight has ended up at 129kg and after a bit of careful set up work it should make around 85bhp
