Hello you lot.
Here's a good question for you to peruse over.
Does anyone know if you can buy these fairing brackets (highlighted in magenta circles) from anyone/anywhere?
All mine are badly corroded and the threads are barely hanging in there, so I'm planning on just making my own with some mild steel and some nuts welded onto them.
They look like they're riveted onto the actual plastic, but I don't see why I couldn't just use some m2 bolts.
Any other ideas?

I think you have covered the best option but if you're feeling lazy, you could use Spire Nuts http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/M4-M5-M6-M8-S ... 2316248717. The downside is that they clip over the panel preventing the outer from sitting flush

Thanks for your input on this.
I've just had a another notion.
What if I just made the brackets out of a solid piece of aluminium with 3 threaded taps drilled through it, rather than welding a nut onto steel?
If i bought a length of 15mm(w) x 5mm(h) aluminium strip/bar, I reckon that would do the job.
The original plate and nut measure exactly 5mm thick in total, and it's not as if it's going to be torqued to the max, so aluminium should work fine.
Will also have the bonus of never getting corroded again.

Job done!
Finally got round to making the fairing brackets from an aluminium bar I got off flea bay.
Quite pleased with the results.
FYI I used some M4 Stainless Steel Flange bolts to mount them onto the fairing.
Drilling the old rivets out wasn't too tricky.
Worst part was cutting throught the layers of paint to lever the rivets out without damaging the surrounding paintwork.
