spare engine
Hi I have aquired a spare engine (400) he told me it was a 3tj but when i got there it wasnt got it cheap enough so picked it up anyway. Just not to sure what it is. It has small fins and the only engine marking i can make out it 33M. It has magnesium and yipcs or something similar moulded in the head cover. any ideas???

Re: spare engine
1wg genesis if it's silver
or
original 1wg FZR400 if it's black ... they had a steel frame that was used for the FZ600

An FZR400 with a steel frame, that would be a first. I worked on a coupla of the 87 FZR400's with the 1WG stamped black engines and they definatly had aluminium frames.Evilchicken0 wrote:original 1wg FZR400 if it's black ... they had a steel frame that was used for the FZ600

Re: spare engine
Would it not be the air-cooled FZ400 that shared a frame with the steel framed air cooled FZ600?

Actually it was a first, it was produced before the alloy framed Genesis models probably about 85-86Marb wrote:An FZR400 with a steel frame, that would be a first. Re: spare engine
Yeah, there was an 84-85 FZR400.

But they didn't have the genisis Engines. They had they were the pre-fz engines. With an 27 degree angel cilinders (instead of the 41 degree FZR Genisis Engine)
So i doubt that the TS has one of these they are very different to the FZR engines.

Re: spare engine
I think that's the race bike - the steel framed streetbike shared the bodywork of the FZ600 but it was watercooled and as I say had a square section steel frame
