FZR 400 RRSP inlet manifolds.
Hi again, getting further on with the RRSP restoration. It starts easily now after cleaning the carbs 3 times. However it is running rough- I can here a slight sucking noise around the intake area which I 'm sure isn't there on my 3tj (both have standard air boxes). Am I right in thinking I can use 1wg or 3en intake manifolds as 3tj ones are discontinued? There is some cracking around the inlet manifolds where the carbs meet. Cheers in advance.

Run the engine and spray some carb cleaner around where you think the air leak is, if the revs change then you know there's a leak.
I think somebody has used different inlet stubs but not sure which bike they came from

Re: FZR 400 RRSP inlet manifolds.
Thanks mate, will try that next weekend. If it isn't that the only other thing I suppose could be a lazy generator. I have eliminated coils, leads and carbs from trying good working parts from my 3tj. 15or 20 years ago my 350 lc was running rough , got the generator rewound and what a difference to starting and really crisp performance. Suddenly felt like I had a Stan the man tuned proddie racer! lol.

Do you have a charging circuit analyser, like the blue point mt 130 ... if not see if there's one for sale. You just clip it onto the battery and earth and it will tell you what you need to do. they're not made anymore but if you can get one buy it, on of the best things to have in a tool kit.

HI again, just squited some gt 85 around inlets whilst running and pretty surr it picked up abit.Ordered some 1 wg inltets.Doesnt like running without choke so must be running lean sucking in extra air I think.

Re: FZR 400 RRSP inlet manifolds.
Bought some 1wg inlet manifolds which are metal. I am assuming I need some rubber sleeves to join them to the carbs. Any help is much appreciated.

Yes you need the rubbers, I think they're still available from Yamaha

Re: FZR 400 RRSP inlet manifolds.
Hi friends, my bike had the same problem. New rubbers on 3TJ can not be found. But the inlet pipes with FZR600 (3HE) have a similar diameter but a larger height. Will the intake rubbers from 3HE fit to 3TJ and whether the airbox rests in the fuel tank? What do you think? Thanks
