CB400sf 47BHP Restriction

Post by tomthetimthing »

Hi all!

I'm in the middle of doing my middleweight bike license (A2 after Jan 2013) and am looking to perhaps buy a CB400 Superfour.

My only concern is how a 47BHP/35Kw restriction would effect handling, acceleration, speed, fuel consumption or anything else!

The restriction will most likely be a couple of washers to restrict fuel flow before the carburettors.

Has anybody had to restricted one of these bikes before, or do you know of any that have been restricted?

Hope to hear from you soon! :D

Cheers guys, stay upright!

Hi ... my 92 cb400 superfour project 1 was restricted by a company in East Sussex by its first UK owner in 1997
following import registration. Im guessing it was carb/fuel restriction...and im guessing it was set at 33bhp..as the threshold at that time......I will find out when I have it removed next year

I cant state what the effect on performance is...because its all ive know from this bike...but my mate whos ridden a few
says although its still able to get the top speeds he remembered ..(.eventually !!...). to him its tame...... choked back..... but to me its more than enough to be getting on with for a year....im learning how to handle the low down weight of the inline 4...... but of the 6 bikes ive now owned I can say that this is just the best....I know the power is there....waiting ...and i get the whole new bike experience from it when restriction comes off ;) .

I will post back with something more factual when i do it..... :geek:
