Hi All

Saw a post on here a while back about changing the dial face of the speedo to a mph one. So cracked on and replaced the faces to all the dials.

Trouble is I F'd up like a true wally and didn't take note of where the needle naturally rested on either the speedo or the tach.

Is there any way of resolving the misreadings without dismantling the dials again or having to obtain new dials?

A set koso dials is an option but I prefer to stick with analogue.

Why change the tacho face, it reads rpm, nothing to do with kph/mph.

I bought a bike with the same speedo problem so ran it on the Abba stand in top gear and re calibrated the speedo by trial and error,[needle off and on a few times] but the tacho was correct and I knew 10mph per 1000rpm.

You need to mark the rotating disc and a fixed point next time.

I changed the faces to white ones.

Tried a few times moving the needle but it's not so easy.

Was wondering if there was a way to re calibrate them.

Right, I've obtained a new set of clocks and don't want to mess it up this time.

Opened the speedo me noticed there's already a black mark on the rotor arm and another bit that spins separately. The same marks are on my old speedo too.

Can I use these marks or do I need to make another reference point? Any advice on the fixed part I'm supposed to mark against?

The way I do it is to move the speedo needle to 80km/h (50mph)

then tape / secure the back of the speedo into place so the needle is fixed at 80km/h and pop off the needle.

Get the face off with the 2 screws and swap the face-plates. Reset the needle back on at 50mph and remove your tape.

Needle should reset to 0. if you tape the needle at 0 then it might not have the right tension when you remove it, 80km/h / 50mph is easiet.
