missing wire

i broke a wire off the circled area to the right, it was soldered on. my bike runs as it did before i broke it off.
does anybody know what the wire does. also. it wasn't connected to anything but it has a spade head connector on the unsoldered end. im guessing it goes into the connector that i have also circled in red.

Ahh, might explain why the temp gauge doesn't work. cheers, ill re connect it and see what happens.
