Rebuild time (again)

Little bit of progress today, dropped the engine out and cleaned up the rolling chassis. Jizer, dish washing brush and a pressure washer works wonders, the bike was in a right mess after spending more years than I like to admit sitting idle & gathering dust in in the workshop.
Ordered a few bits and pieces that I need to fit the engine, so hoping to have the engine in the frame before next weekend.

Test fitted the engine yesterday, went in with no problems.
Haven't cut the frame/engine mounts for the genny side adapter plate yet, but have gotten every thing marked up where I want to remove material. Will drop the engine back out and get busy with the angle grinder sometime this week.

Not much progress to report as I haven't been near the bike in nearly 2 months as work went a bit mental. 80-90 hour weeks have been the norm for the last while, so I was just too knackered to work on the bike by the time I got home.

After 5 1/2 years of working stupid hours when I was running my own business, I vowed I wouldn't go back to working so many hours again, so I have resigned from my job as my old boss made it clear that I was expected to carry on with all the overtime and turned into a bit of an arse when I refused to do any.

Going to have a week off to relax a bit, and then crack on with the bike next week.

Are you contract with them ? You can claim constructive dismissal for something like that, I don't think youre the kind of guy to do that but an employer like that is taking the pi55.

I didn't have a contract with them as it was a bit of a shambles from day one.

I started with them to do one job, which turned into 3 months work, after which we were supposed to have a sit down and see how I was getting on with the other types of work that I had no experience with before setting my wage.
The sit down never happened and I was still on my trial period wage even though I was the main flowjet cutter operator, doing a lot of fabrication work, and had taken over as lead mechanic on all the maintenance contracts in the 3 fuel depots we looked after. All on top of doing all the maintenance on all the companies plant and vehicles that I was drafted in to do in the first place.

I probably would have a case for constructive dismissal, but I can't be bothered with that and I would get more satisfaction going to work at one of the rival companies and going after his contracts. I have already had 2 companies sound me out as to what I am planning to do next, and I know it will bother my old boss if I worked for the competition.
I think my old boss is regretting what went on already, as he has been asking some of my workmates if they thought I would come back for more money and a company vehicle, but I have heard it all before as I was promised both of that on day one.

Onwards and upward from here I think, write it off as a bad experience and move on. In the 10 months I have been there, 7 guys (including myself) have left, which is quite bad for a company with a workforce of 10 employees, sort of says it all really.

Fair play to you for getting up and going.
I've been talking about doing the same for ages. The only thing with my job is it's well enough paid with reasonable benefits, it's just all the shit that the company keep coming out with that I don't like anymore.
Still I'll just do my bit and keep my head down so no one talks to me! That suits me best.

By Law they had to give you a Contract within the first 13 weeks, unless you were self employed.

Yeah probably, but its all water under the bridge now. I received my last weeks wage and all my holiday pay yesterday so that will be the last time I have to deal with them.
They were a week late paying the money into the bank, but it's in there now so I am happy.

Dropped the engine out of the bike again today to tidy up a few odds and ends, so the next time it goes back in it will be for a while, touch wood!
Been chasing up the painters again, but they recon it will be at least 2 months until they can paint the tank and fairings, so going to leave that for the moment and get the bike on the road and will probably paint it up over the winter.
