Been offered nc30 project, advice needed
I have been offered a nc30 project which was apparently a barn find. The carbs have been removed so I can't hear it running and it has no v5 but is HPI clear.
It needs tyres, brakes and fork seals. It has a new Chinese fairing kit as well. What should I be offering for it?
Thanks

No V5?
Offer to take it for free to save them the cost of disposal.
Hpi clear just means it doesn't owe anything to a finance company, it could still be stolen.
If you pay for it offer very low money and be prepared to find out it's history when you try to register it.

Apologies, when i put HPI clear I meant I had done a history check which came back all clear.

It is worth close to bugger all in the real world - The owner can request a new V5 - that is not a problem..so get them to do that.
Is it complete? When was it last ran?
It may well need all fluids changing, all filters, probable set of chassis bearings, chain and sprockets. so be prepared for that.
Bottom line - cheap offer and be prepared for a money pit. It may turn out to be great value..or it might have a shagged motor and you'll never get it going.

I would be wary of a bike left standing, more so if the carbs are off.
There is a very clean UK NC30 on e bay with damaged body work and exhaust, a better bet to restore, with Chinese fairings?

The owner is looking for around £500. The bike is complete and he said it ran when he first got it a year ago but he hasn't done much to it since then.

If it was running, then why were the carbs removed?
I like to hear the bike running, and ride it too if possible.
What is the mileage and general condition, and why all new bodywork?
A bit of a gamble really, running NC30s are cheap and plentiful.

for £500 then the owner wants to get a V5, get the carbs on it and get it running.

If I was thinking of this I'd at least push it down the road in gear a bit to make sure it turns over, but clean the inlet ports out first!!!! Are the carbs with it, or will you need to buy a set? Does he know the registration? Will prob need a battery too.
Offer him 300 quid see what happens. Oh and get a receipt with the engine and frame number on it.

Carbs and registration plate come with bike and I have history checked registration and it is clear. £300 is the kind of figure I was thinking.
It is hard to judge the value of bikes like this. Currently there is one on ebay with no fairing or battery which has reached £400 with 5 days to go.
Thanks for the advice.
