I polished it a bit last night.
I had just oiled, put the top camchain guide on and fitted the tensioner to the 660.

so I'm kinda onto the plastics, time to choose
Now a little warning: I just kinda knicked myself getting some stickers off the tail fairings, the 3TJ red is almost an exact match for blood ... the unoxygenated type from my thumb anyway ... careful with those razor blades

Surely there is a hero who could copy the downpipes in stainless and cut and weld the exup onto them to make new forever shiney 3tj downpipes :DEvilchicken0 wrote:Cold huh and the days are short
I've been on the lookout for some downpipes since I got this bike so when a rusty set turned up on the bay I bit the bullet and bought them.

The first job was to get the worst of the rust off them, I used a brass wheel on a slow drill and then gave them a coat of rust killer.

The next weekend I used a fine grit paper with my Mouse palm sander

And another coat of rust killer

I missed the light or it was raining so I had to wait another week before I painted them

I't not the best set in the world but they'll at least be servicable.

If you have the acid then maybe - depending on how much there is. Otherwise probably not.
The 3TJ tank has a seam on the bottom so theres a bit on each side that doesn't drain when the tank's on the bike. If water gets in it sits in that bit because it's heavier than petrol, and rusts it. Make sure your tank dosen't have any water in - use a torch and see if there's anything in it.

It's a bugger innit
Use a long piece so you don't drop it into the tank like I did. Or you can stick a hair dryer in the top of the tank
