NC30 charging problem
hey guys got a bit of a problem with my nc30 charging ... my battery seems to be boiling off and then leaving me with no charge I only changed the battery and the regulator rectifier this time last year and have done a test with a multimeter across my battery terminals whilst the bike is running at 5,000 rpm and I got a reading of around 12v but cannot decide if that's the reg/rec not charging the battery or if I have an alternator problem any help or knowledge on this would be great many thanks :)

Re: NC30 charging problem
Test voltage with bike off. Should be around 12.8v. If not then charge battery and re test. If still below 12.8 or so battery screwed, replace. If your battery is running dry (assume that's what you mean and you have a water filled battery) it generally indicates the rr is buggered and letting too high voltage through.
However, if you have re tested and battery is around 12.8v or higher, start bike, rev and test voltage. Should be around 14v. Higher than 14.8 and rr is buggered. Lower than about 13.2/13.5 and possibly rr buggered, but more likely wiring problem. Check battery terminals, rr connecter, do electrical system test as you can find on here.

Re: NC30 charging problem
Cheers for the reply
Ive got 12.55v with the bike off and battery fully charged and when I turn it on it sits at roughly 12v and then the more I rev it it starts dropping off then hangs around 11 but I rode it into work tonight after recharging the battery and found that when I got to work that the battery had started boiling off again and I noticed a lack of power also ?

12v is crap, it isn't charging. Get one of the testing docs from here and work through it.not sure about the lack of power..

Get yer multimeter out and do the tests above, you'll find it pretty quickly.
