Poor running help please!
I've recently given the nc30 a bit of a service; upgraded the forks with Ricks kit, new chain and sprockets; and drilled and jetted carbs to suit the half system i've got.
Originally the carbs had 122s in the front and 124s in the back and i always thought this was a little rich for the bike considering she had just a half system on and standard filter/air box.
I've since put 118s and 120s in reassembled everything and went for a quick spine out tonight.
It now seems like she doesn't pull as hard up the rev range anymore. No flat spots but just doesn't pull quite like it used to. Also when the bike is still and you hit the revs she spits out an impressive flame from the exhaust. This i find suprising because she never used to do this with the larger jets in.
Also, she won't idle very well. If you rev her and then let the revs drop she just cuts out. I never had this problem before. Also i noticed this evening that when the choke is applied it only takes the revs to just over 2000rpm.
I'm sure i've seated the carbs correctly but maybe i'm wrong.
I'm unsure of whatelse could be causing the poor running though. Any ideas or directions to point me in please?
Cheers
JT

I think your hunch is correct, check that the carbs are properly seated.
Check with a torch if you need to on the front, the rubbers need to be right up to the bottom of the carbs, you can easily guage that they're all even, just takes a bit of time.

If the carbs weren't seated properly would this cause a flame from the exhaust?
Also i forgot to mention that i also did the valve clearances. They are all fine now, but whilst doing them i completely removed all the airbox rubbers etc. I might be that i haven't placed the rubbers back where they should be also. Does anyone have a photo of how the rubber flaps under the airbox are fitted?
