Help with Magtek
After lots of searching I finally have a Magtek front for my Nc30 but I need some help.
The set seems to be race versions. The front is light, 3.4 kg (for 3.0x17) but i got a surprise when I saw the bearing arrangement. One side has a shoulder and circlip goove, the other has nothing. To me this means it must run a ball bearing taking the thrust on one side so not my nc30 axle.
Any idea where i can get an axle or a sample to make one as I have a lathe?
Also, the rear that came with the front is 4x18 but has a different arrangement to the cush drives on normal nsr rears. It seems to need a bolt on part on the drive side. Any ideas what they are from? Pics to follow later
Thanks in advance

Re: Help with Magtek
Pics will help but the front sounds the same as mine and it works on a NC with just some different sized normal spacers

Re: Help with Magtek
Rear 18 x 4 is from an early rs250.
I had a set once but couldn't be bothered modifying it to get it to fit, very light wheels though.

I'll compare those pics of the front wheel with the one i have but am i right in thinking you don't have the internal spacer for the wheel?

Re: Help with Magtek
Thats right, only 1 bearing is held between a shoulder and a circlip while the other is floating. Seems to me its a race bike arrangement that is meant to reduce friction as there can be no preload introduced into the bearings. No seals either.
Could be from circa 1987 rs250 which had these size wheels which ties up with post earlier. I expected that age wheel to be sandcast but these are not

Re: Help with Magtek
Are you certain its a circlip that holds the bearing? Mine has a threaded type of castle nut not a circlip

Re: Help with Magtek
Very sure. I will have to draw it all up and design some spacers. I would feel much happier if someone can confirm this arrangement is used elsewhere.
Will post update when i get a chance

Re: Help with Magtek
Just checked my 1986 rs250 wheel and it has the same arrangement - result!
