I would tell them it worth £800 privatley and they should offer about 400 -500 for the loss, but book value and because of being a bit of a classic they should see sense...

Play hard ball with them. I have just had my car wrote off. Some one ran into the back off my car and shunted it into my nieghbours. The damage was minor but when it was assessed it was un economical to repair. I only paid 600 for the car. They asked me what i valued the car at, which i said was 1200. They came back to me with the book prices, 900 in one book and 600 in another. I stood fast and said the car was worth more to me and that i didnt want to get rid of it. I asked if i could keep it and still get a pay out, they then offered me 750 and the car would remain my property! I snapped their hand off. I replaced 3 lightbulbs, pulled out the slight dent in the front and now you cant tell!!

Go on try 800 and know it will come down. You want to keep the bike anyway

well im speaking with the guy later today and im going to go for the 1000 as you cant seem to get one from a dealer for less than that.
Im in no rush as im getting the courtesy bike today so i will be negotiating until a fair figure is reached.

I dont really want to keep the bike as such but if i can then i will.

Just want to get the blade on the road as soon as possible.

The thing is i cant seem to find a book value anywhere because it is not listed so i deem it as a classis so the value is debatable.
