Had nagging thoughts after changing the oil in one fork a week or so ago, I’d only done one as I wanted to take some pics of the internals to send to Rick, I had nagging thoughts about it for two reasons –

Firstly – I was convinced I only had one tub of fork oil, which I found unopened and unused as I was packing everything away this weekend ready for cadwell with Bemsee on the 14th – 15th Sept. Which made me wonder what I had put in the forks, as I couldn’t find another tub of fork oil empty in the bin or half used on the shelf.

And secondly because I couldn’t remember if I pumped the fork leg after putting the fork oil in to distribute the oil before setting the level.

So I hung the bike from a rafter and whipped the front end out (Really need to invest in a headstock stand, it probably took me nearly as long to get the bike strapped up and secure as it did to remove the front wheel calipers and forks from the triple clamps)

Caps off spacers and springs out and sure enough the level in the two forks was very different, so drained them both (the oil that I drained from the fork I had put new oil in seemed to be fork oil but I have no idea where the empty /half used tub has gone, maybe I’m just losing it!!)

New fork oil in both, gave them a good few pumps right through their stroke action and then topped up to leave an 80mm air gap which is how I had them when I first renewed them all.

All put back together and a nut and bolt check and I can now go to cadwell for my final round with Bemsee for this year, it’s too far for me to go to Brands.

Spent a bit of time sorting my rear brake ready for an MOT in the next few weeks. It'll be the first time it's been back in service since 2010..

A little later in the afternoon once the master cylinder had been sorted so now I have a useable rear brake.

And now it has new plugs which have improved the engine response. I also did a bit fibreglass repair on the back side of the fairing too.

MOT next week!

Great minds …and all that (or as they say over here in Germany - "two idiots - one thought" :o ). Did you go for the magnet pick ups of the front wheel, or the M to D converter of the existing drive?

…….Ohhh and I made the most of a classic Autumn sunny day and some dry roads to head into the mountains…

Fitted myself some SV650 clip ons to replace the originals. Sprayed them up black and swapped everything over, lovely!! They have lifted the bar ends by about 35 mm giving a softer angle. Just been out for a spin and must say they give a more comfortable ride whilst still looking sporty. Well happy!!

Paul.

It passed it's MOT!

First one since 2009 as the bike hasn't been in service since 2010. Really chuffed to have it in regular use again.

I've been thinking of fitting some myself - which year model SV did you get them from Paul?
