Re-using a head gasket
Hey Gents
I spoke to a guy the other day who runs a bike shop and he said theres a trick of the trade using a heat resistant spray allowing for the re-use of a head gasket. He said it has an annealing effect.. what are your opinions on this?

Re: Re-using a head gasket
Backstreet garage muchos?
Sounds riskey as they are designed to be compressed. I don't see why it shouldn't work, but the gaskets have a specific tightening sequence on them so they are compressed equally.
Put it this way, if your re-used headgasket goes when your blasting down the motorway your likely to ruin your oil, coolant, spark plugs, overheat and warp the engine, crack the block, destroy the piston rings and maybe some other stuff too!
Even my briggs & stratton lawnmower had a new headgasket this week ^_^
