Prices of rvf's in Australia have come down quickly over the last few years.

License law changes brought in around 5 years ago meant that learners could have a first bike of over 250cc for the first time in decades. RVF's were imported by the boatload and sold for a considerable sum.

The market is flooded with them now, and with many newer models for learner riders (cb400, ninja 300 etc) they just don't sell easily at all.

@all, especially topic starter "speedy231278", JC120, Cammo: is there any way to find out the real figures of these little gems that are officially registered in each of your countries? I have the figures from Holland from the last 4 to 5 years.

I don't think there's anyway to find out here in the States. You'd have to do it state by state. I've heard there are only 10 RVF400's registered in CA but I think there's more than that. Some of them are track/race bikes and unregistered.

One bike that seems really collectible here even though it's a small market, are the MC22s. Very very rare here.

Same for Australia, many of them are racebikes so there's no register. My guess would be around 3000-5000 rvf's in Aus (most are roadbikes), probably 1000-2000 nc30's (most are racebikes).

I need to load a boat up with mc22's and ship them to the US... common as muck here and can be had for very cheap - thousands of grey imports and were also sold new. They are a nice bike, but the 400 versions are much more capable IMO.

Okay, no problem with no direct possibility to get the figures. But here is what I have collected in the past years from our National automotive authorities and I derived their data and put it into a excel data sheet... :whistle:

What you can see is that they have not separated the identifications in their register. For example the RVF's are included the NC35's plus the RC45's all together! So all the RVF's registered are included in that number as seen in the graph. Only started from mid-2010 and onwards they started to register the vehicle type number from fresh grey imports to put more diversity to gain more specific information. The peak was only in 2010 and steady on 64 pcs (4 bikes were imported that year, but also 4 bikes were exported later to other destinations. Not 100% correct but appareantly 1x NC35 and the rest is RC45's).

Also, the official registered bikes of the RC30 and even the RC40 did not change at all (overall 40 and 2 bikes).
The numbers of VFR400's and also for the CBR400's (all types together, and not specified) are overall decreasing. Not that many around, few dismantled due to salvage or broken for spares so taken of the roads, and a handful of them exported to mainly our southern neighbours like Belgium/France. :geek:
