Track Days
Hi everyone, I have had my fzr about a couple of months now. its a 92 standard RR. I have the intention of doing track days up at anglesey where i live. I need to get some spare wheels and decent track tires, any cheap sources for these? Do people play with the suspension at all, as its a bit bouncy at the mo so a stiffen up all round? Also i need a bit more go from her, as its totally standard, where should i begin first? I am going to overhaul the carbs and balance them, but after that im assuming exhaust and airbox( anyone know of a cheaper one than the bdk)? Does anyone come up to anglesey track days much? if so i was wondering if people mess with the gearing, i have 19:55 on it now. Sorry for the barrage of questions. lol. As you can see im relatively new into the 2 wheel world so any help is appreciated. I dont really have a great deal of money to spend, as i race in british formula ford so it all goes there, this is just a bit o fun, and real;ly good fun at the mo too!
Thanks Alex
Thanks Alex

Re: Track Days
Fit a radial brake master cylinder, braided hoses and EBC HH pads (I use 5.1 fluid).
New fork springs and 15wt oil - I'm not sure what air gap is used.
R6 shock from a 2007+ bike and get one of Oolit's spacers at the bottom. You could do with a lighter spring on these depending on your weight.
If you want better front suspension theres the SP adjustable forks, but they're a bit rare secondhand.
400's rely on high corner speed so suspension is the best place to spend the money. Obviously gas flowing, improving airflow and raising compression will help. The top engines can get high 70's but they get fragile too. You best bet for bigger power is the 600 engine conversion.

Re: Track Days
just stick a 600 in, it's the way forward, plenty of people doing it now so lots of experience to count on
You could get the engine and other bits for around £350 with carefull ebaying

Re: Track Days
You can get the complete 600 for that price with careful ebaying!
My crashed Foxeye 600 cost £325, it's better with the whole bike so you can rip off all the little bits that are needed but get forgotten!!
Alex.

Re: Track Days
Hey thanks for the replies, some good info, especially evilchicken. I dont really fancy putting a 600 in it, as i like the 400 motor, just seems a little asthmatic, and could do with a bit of help. also i am only 19 so insuring the 600 would be expensive i assume. I weigh just under 11 stone so prob 11.5 all kitted up, so what springin should i go for?
