Not unless your engine has pistons that move at different rates to one another... ;-)

this is so annoying.... i dont see why it cant pick up the signal.... what makes it so much more different than the stock tacho? ive tried every possible way of connecting the rpm wire... still no signal apart from the blue/white cable on the right side of the bike, while connected to that, it picks up the signal, but it shows me wrong numbers. :(

As others have said, you do not help your cause by providing so little detail. I can only assume the blue/white wire you keep referring to is the crank pickup signal. If this in indeed the wire then it will have numerous pulses per revolution and therefore could/should cause a tacho to indicate higher rpm than actual. Also even if you can change the tacho division rate, which I am sure you can as it it a universal meter, using this signal as a pickup point may corrupt the signal such that the ignition control unit miss-performs.

Have you tried using the ignition coil primary drive signal?

Try either the blue/ yellow or yellow/blue wires at the front or rear ignition coil. Can you post up all the info that came with the unit.
