can't find idle adjuster
hey guys,
recently the bike won't hold idle on it's own and i have to hold the throttle a bit to keep it going
I have also just noticed i have small hole in the headers - is this the cause?
I also cannot find the idle adjuster, i think the seller removed it or something (its a track bike)
can someone point out where it is on the carburetor?
Thanks for any help

Re: can't find idle adjuster
Which model? The idle adjuster on the NC35 is a cable operated adjuster that screws in and out using a knob located next to the choke pull on the left side of the bike. I guess a track bike would probably not have a choke either... The adjuster works by pressing against a pip on the wheel that the throttle cables operate on, so winding the adjuster in has the effect of opening the throttle slightly. I would assume that 30/24 and 21 operate on a similar if not identical principal, however the adjuster knob might be located in a different place. Not having owned one, I don't know.
I doubt the hole in the headers would be the main cause, although it probably won't be making things any better!

Re: can't find idle adjuster
Hole in the exhaust headers? That won't help things.
The idle adjuster should be on the left side like speedy says, if not then you'll need to find a bolt that'll fit in the hole for the idle adjuster on the carbs and use that to set the idle. It's a carbs off jobby, the throttle cam is on the left side of the carbs (as you sit on the bike) and the idle adjuster should screw in just to the back and below of the cam

Re: can't find idle adjuster
Here's the arrangement on the NC35:

Note that the carbs are upsidedown in this pic
Found this of NC30 carbs, shows the wheel for the throttle cables, and where the idle adjuster would fit if actually fitted...

Re: can't find idle adjuster
If you don't have one idle adjuster that is I may be able to sort you one as some people forget and pull off the carbs and snap the thread.

Re: can't find idle adjuster
somtimes the rubbers are just knackered.. espeically after a long time. often a lot less headache to buy a new set.. many times you can use NC35 ones, there reported by many peopel on here to be good.rubenastley wrote:once again thanks, i found the idle adjuster and its just a screw and a spring. If you have a spring and screw it sounds like an NC24 idle adjuster. could even be NC24 carbs.

Re: can't find idle adjuster
I replaced my rubbers the other day for NC35 ones, easier to get the carbs on and actually worked out £3 cheaper than NC30 ones from DSSNeosophist wrote:somtimes the rubbers are just knackered.. espeically after a long time. often a lot less headache to buy a new set.. many times you can use NC35 ones, there reported by many peopel on here to be good.rubenastley wrote:once again thanks, i found the idle adjuster and its just a screw and a spring. Re: can't find idle adjuster
ok guys, ran into another shitty problem =(
The bike was starting fine, albeit the revs were hanging a bit. Since i didn't have a accessible idle adjuster i had to take the carbs of to adjust the idle with trial and error. However randomly the bike will crank and sometime start for a second but dies off - sound like its out of fuel or something Battery is fully charged - even tested with another battery.
Is it because i havn't seated the carbs on properly? fucking bitch to get in
