Back from Cadwell. All went well!
Finally have had a problem free trackday! Well almost. The clutch was slipping again in the first session. I had just fitted new friction plates, it was just that they had bedded in and the pushrod needed adjustment. (Should have done that at the last trackday but never mind). Once sorted the power delivery felt good with no flat spots.
So it was the first time i have managed to explore the full potential of the 600 motor fitted and boy was it sweet! Had some good battles and i think i may have found my limits now! I lost the front trying to go round a Ducati 1098s at Mansfield but managed to save it with my knee. (Adrenalin IS brown!) It was a bit fustrating that i was faster through all the bends but he had the drive down the straights which put him in my way and i just couldnt get past him. I still think i proved my point though! He was impressed how i was hanging on to him!
In one of the next sessions i was running with a zx6. It was interesting to compare the power between the 2 bikes as we seemed to be of a similar level of competence. He just had a bit more power than me. I kept showing him my front wheel down straight but didnt have the power to get past. I think i was getting the power on earlier than him coming out of charlies. Still its not bad for a standard 95 600 motor!
So all in all it was running well but not as powerfull as the new 600s. But what is lost in power is made up in corner speed. I think i need to find some horses over the winter. Im taking it to get dyno'd soon so i can compare any changes i make. Not going to be happy untill im out dragging 600s on the straights! But still, a good day was had!
Oh, and i was so involved with what i was doing that i didnt notice till after lunch that Ian Hutchinson was next to me in the paddock with Rob Mac (it was also an acu testing day) Hutch for BSB Yamaha???

Mansfield is one of the best overtaking places for 400's and you can carry so much more speed and lean angle than you think
The bastards on big bikes don't have such an advantage cos its down hill aproach, I tend to line them up out of park, close like mad through chris curve with the throttle pinned (carfull you don't deck things out its scary and can course big slides or crashes) Take a line through the gooseneck so your on the inside and just shove it up the inside on the brakes. Best bit is they can't get past until main staright so they aren't holding you up round the hall bends!
It's so satisfying beating the bigger bikes especially in the fast group kicking r1 and blade ass

Yes well ... Cadwell was my only trackday. The second session there was a zxr750 that got that band a bit wrong ... I just told myself not to look at him running wide. By the third session I was trying to chase a blade, I was left behind from the straight but could start to get back from the 90 deg right at the top of the hill. Never did get that long three apex right though.
