You didn't put the old CDI back on by accident did you?

no the old CDI went in the bin a long time ago . could condensation be a problem? since the bike is inside an aluminium shed... there is always water dripping down from the roof in the mornings. and since the CDI was sitting on the table, which wasnt wet, but maybe moist and small condensation damaged it? or other electrics of the bike? or am i thinking too far head.

hey guys, quick update, i got the bike to start this morning... i charged the battery up over night and plugged it in, checked for spark and there is plenty of it. the bike fired up on the 3rd try.

now, i still dont know what caused that problem so im still going to try and find out. before i started the bike i pushed in all the connections etc, so maybe i connected something while doing it. who knows.... i will now get everything fully ready for its MOT after college! and hopefully get it tested by the end of this week. =)

you answered your own question, the battery was dead, its cold and you keep it out doors.

most bikers/owners keep there bike garaged and on a battery optimizer which keeps the battery in tip top condition

Low battery, provding enuogh current to crank but not enough to fire the bike up.

Assuming the charging system is ok then its most likely you doing frequent starts and stops of the bike without recharging the battery inbetween with a proper charger.

I asked many times the last thread but never got an answer, did you test that old ignition unit properly before you binned it?

ibby, i only tested the new clocks once. and i put it back in its box. and Neo, how can i test an ignition unit? i read on the forum that there is no way of getting the CDI tested unless its done by a honda specialist. the only way i tested it before i binned it was swap it around with a working one.... when i did it, it never worked. and when i put the new one in.. it did work. that was enough to convince me that it was broken, also lets not forget the fact that the whole bike would cut out while riding it at random intervals. which was also another reason to bin it. AND the jamming issue stopped ever since replacing the CDI.

there is just no way on gods earth that a CDI working, broken or missing will have any impact on a sticking starter motor. i reckon your wiring is so hammered that there was another issue disturbed when you changed the CDI.
