Opinions on this NC30?

Seller seems to think the fairings have standard paint scheme but the wheels have been changed to white.
Colour scheme seems a little off to me.

Otherwise, Its just passed an MOT and the bloke says his mate has just come round and changed the oil_filter, battery AND the Reg/Rec.

Hmm, the tank and lowers have been painted, the rest might be original or perhaps Chinese ebay panels (the 'West' front mudguard would suggest this). The forks have also been painted at some point along with the wheels.

It would probably be alright if you could get it for a few hundred quid less; as you know there's going to be some hidden problems with bikes of this age. But if you've around a grand to spend, something better will probably come up for sale on this forum in the near future.

Type 7 seat unit doesn't match anything except maybe the nose cone. Mix and match job to me. If its mechanically sound you could always put a set of chinese fairings on if you got it for the right (ie cheap enough) price. Definitely not standard though.

Isn't the bolt missing from the fairing lower? Also, what's going on where you can mount the torque arm? Looks like a split pin or something poking out of it....

Thats not right.

It is wearing white wheels and gold calipers, I can't see a remote resevoir for the rear shock either, and thers no picture of the front forks, but all that suggests that its a Type 1/2 1989 NC30.

The K (89) model had white wheels, gold calieprs and damper rod forks, the rear shock had no resevoir earlier.

I dont think somebody would swap the wheels, forks and shock while keeping the panels..

they panels themsevles are obviously chinese copies. I can say with 95% confidence that its an original 89 bike thats been down the road and reapaired on the cheap, now being sold on.

Rather tatty bike, I wouldnt pay anymore than 650 for that due to the amount of money I would have to spend to get it to what I want.

For me, a must would be

Later forks / decent rear shock
Original panels and tank
Full service / check.


It all depends on how long you want the bike for, what you want to do with it, for that kind of money if you shop around a bit you should be able to get more bang for your buck, but the prices have been artifcially inflated later.

Providing its all mechnaicallly sound then it could make a cheap hack aroudn riding bike to get some experience on then sell it on when you want a newer faster bigger bike or restore it, or even sell it to get a better nc30 (youll always be out of pocket restoring any one!, but its best to not start with a shitter)

im always slightly wary of bikes that have been bodged back together on the cheap and then sold on.. either the owner doesnt have the money or somethings knackered, either way it doesnt bode well for good quality repairs.

make sure everything is straight and the bike rides good... it really helps if you have ridden a good one before to compare them too.

I wouldnt say no to it but at least err on caution.
