gsxr400 noob from wellingborough needs advice and help
So hi my name is john i have recently purchased a gsxr400 gk76a gorgeous looking bike i've been an off road monkey for many years but now have decided its high time i get on the tarmac and join my mates on rides.
So here is my situation i bought the bike off ebay no tax ot mot for £510 (i think i got deal and a half but i'll wait to see what you all think is wrong with it before i start my victory dance) so far the issues i have noticed is obvioulsy carb o rings need doing but as i started it and tried to warm it up for first time i noticed 3 things number one seemed a bit smokey out the exhaust for a while once started and also even when on choke for ten minutes as soon as i turn choke off it dies and it never seems to get above the bottom of the white line on the temp guage any guidance or advice on such matters would be greatly appreciated i'm sure if i trawled through all the threads on here i'd find the info i require but i fiigured its just as easy to register and pose the question and get all the info i want and need in one place.
Hopefully soon to be happy gixxer4 rider,
john 76agsxr400noob

Hi,
Classic sign of bad o'rings- smokes and temp stays low.
Main culprit is the main jet o'ring not sealing so the bike runs rich/cool and the pilot o'ring causing surging.

VVS u are a leg end i have read many of your very informative posts on here i'm glad its just that and not anything more serious i've only really dealt with single cylinder two strokes which as everyone knows are a doddle to work on i'm confident that i shouldnt struggle too much with the o rings is it an easy job for a first time 4t fettler or willl i need some expert help and also can i change o rings without having to rebalance the carbs?? i'll post a pic of my bike too cuz i havent seen another on ein this colour anywhere else maybe you could tell me if it is a standard colour or not. p.s. how do you upload pics to this site????
Also aside from main topic it has a www.boxhillmotorcycles.com sticker on it assuming thats where it originally came from (was imported in 2002) is there a reason the website address does not work anymore any clues as to whether boxhill motorcycles still exists as i would like to take this bike back there as i've heard boxhill good meet for bikes and its nice to take your bike back to its origin lol
