frame rust
just bought e reasonably clean 1994 modek[20,000mls]a few bits of rust about the frame,whats the best way to treat them,was thinking cleaning them up and using hammerite.

Hi, that is what I did, clean with white spirit, go over it with a wire brush to scrape the worst off
and then Hammerite with a brush. The rust is usually at places you don't see much. Besides, Hammerite is a good match for the Honda black


The swingarm restoration consisted of a thick layer of brushed on Hammerite and then 3 finishing layers of spray Hammerite. Certain parts of the frame are hard to get to with the engine still in place so I painted it with my fingers (wrapped in latex glove)
There are better ways of restoring the frame such as stove enamelling, powder coating. A mate at work used a compound called PJ1 to paint the whole frame of his Beemer.
