rear brake hose problem,

Okay, so my old rear brake hose got a hole in it because it touched my rear pipes. so i bought a oem nc30 hose. and i cant fit it because the connector is different...


the top hose is what i had. and the thing next to it is the connect. but that connector wont fit the bottom hose which is the oem hose. any ideas?



on the connector the little nipple part has a hex nut, that nut turns but the thing wont unscrew.

so basically can anyone tell me or post a picture of what actually goes on the end of the oem hose so i can connect it to the caliper, its really urgent, my MOT is booked for wednesday.

The rest of the connector is still attached to the nippley bit. You'll probably find that it'll take a lot of effort to get apart, but once you do, you'll find part of it will thread on the end of the 'new' hose you have, and the other end will thread into your caliper.

yeah thats what i mean, the nipple must come off somehow because the hex nut which is a part of the nipple unscrews but it requires a lot of force. i have to use a socket wrench and put the other part of the connect in it, and use a hand wrench on the nipple nut and then turn it that way. it turns, but only little, but it doesnt look like its unscrewing at all.

What's left on the caliper? Is there still an adapter, or is it just a bare thread in the body now? If there's nothing, then your adapter is either still attached to the nippley bit, or possibly the aftermarket hose used a different arrangement and the stock adapter was binned.

Quite frankly, given the price (and lead time) on the adapter if you need a new one, and the price of secondhand rubber hoses, you might as well just fork out £25 and buy a brand new braided one, which won't be old and spongy, and make sure it has the right bits to fit a naked caliper!

no there is still the adapter on the caliper. but something tells me what the connector that came off the after market hose isnt the right connector for the oem hose.

anyone got a connector for the oem hose i can buy quickly? please thanks

I got some........somewhere. My garage is a mess at the moment, i could have a look tomorrow if i remember but i cant promise anything.

oh okay. that would be great! i really want to fix this and get the mot done on wednesday, if i cant find that part i will need to cancle the mot :\

just to say now, i tried to remove the nipple part. while holding the connector with a socket wrench on the other side of the nut. and the top part literally snapped off.... looks like i need a new one anyway.

It might do, but then the seller is sending it so slowly you're going to miss the MOT date, and a brand new one is only a couple of quid more and you should get all the right bits. He says, assuming that new lines fit directly to the caliper and don't have an adapter...?

OK, so it's £21 and next day shipping will cost you another £7, but you'll have it Tuesday and the kit claims to have all the necessary bits. So, with a bit of luck, it'll save you in the long run....
