To break or not?

So the time has come.
After starting out in 2010 with a very sad VFR400 race bike, through the many contacts and endless information
on this great site,I've ended up with the bike I wanted at the start.
I know everything about it,I am truly in tune with it....we are one.
So do I break it and sell it to fund running a production twin next year or do I put it in a glass case and look at its beautiful form for years to come?
I prob could just about get some kind of a twin if I get enough work over the winter, but I could get a really nice one with the proceeds of the VFR.
The bike is strong and handles amazingly.
Missed out on my maiden win at the weekend by 2/10th of a second,I was beaten by the C'ship winning bike of 2010 and '11.
It truly is a dilemma

Re: To break or not?
i dont race so my opinion doesn't possibly count, but if the bike is as you want it, you enjoy riding it, and feel happy with the bike why change ?
sure it may not be quite as competetive as a twin, but those scalps in the bag when you take them will be far sweeter on the older underdog. be proud of it for what it is, but if winning is the be all and end all then perhaps time to change it.

Keep it and race in twins and SS400 so get more track time, thats what I am doing. Very easy to jump from one to other, check my Bush and Killalane times and results, twin is actually easier to ride fast than the 400 but 400 so much more rewarding.

That would be the ideal situation,it's all about track time.abrmoto wrote:Keep it and race in twins and SS400 so get more track time, thats what I am doing. The 400 is such a pleasure to race, when it all clicks into place.
I know I'd regret selling it,down the line.
I've been looking at some damaged repairable ER650's online, well within my price range, only thing is,they're all in the UK. I'm in Southern Ireland.
I'll prob end up selling one of my MX bikes and a few VFR spares to help finance a twin.
Thanks for the input.
I'll keep it for the moment.
