Re: Rvf forks, how to dismantle for new springs
Hi guys, all I want to do is change springs and oil. I thought Haynes said I had to remove the damper bolt? Or our another way, I cannot shift the end cap and figured something was holding it on and tightly!
All advice received gratefully, and thanks porndog, might come and see you sometime!
Cheers

You need to remove damper rod to separate stanchions or replaces seals etc.racingt wrote:Hi guys, all I want to do is change springs and oil. I thought Haynes said I had to remove the damper bolt? Or our another way, I cannot shift the end cap and figured something was holding it on and tightly!

The end cap will be very tight, and that's why I'm sure the manual suggests leaving the forks in the yokes initially as the other option is to mount the fork in a vice, which could end up damaging the tube.

Don't forget to loosen off the top clamp bolts first though, else you'll be undoing the fork tops while fighting against the compression of the tube also.speedy231278 wrote:The end cap will be very tight, and that's why I'm sure the manual suggests leaving the forks in the yokes initially as the other option is to mount the fork in a vice, which could end up damaging the tube.
