Re: Lets try again!!
Can I ask where you find the best for new spares for the 400? Say you wanted a set of pistons and rings 0.50 oversize, top end gasket set, where would you source them from?
Cheers.

Re: Lets try again!!
Update;
Finished the cases i`ve bought(bead blasted/painted) and dry built the motor using spare barrels/head etc so as to have the exhausts made. Once the pipes are complete i will finish the bodywork off and then remove the motor for final build etc.

Barrels/head to blast next while i wait for the pipes to be completed then paint them gloss black.
As it stand`s now.....

More as and when....

Progress(of sort`s)
Got the the later yokes back so got them fitted this afternoon. Also a nice tidy front mudguard of flea-bay arrived yesterday so fitted that as well..... Just need to sort the scruffy fork tubes out now, priced new one`s they are way to expensive so i`m going to have the original`s anodised but what colour gold or black? What do you lot think? Or i could have them polished but that might be tooo much
Stanchion`s are worn too so new are the order of the day, again black or gold,decision`s,decision`s....

Re: Lets try again!!
Progress so far.......
Seat unit turned up and very good it is to,now where is that welder? Original rails run at approx 8 ins wide and the new unit is only 6 so a simple subframe is the order of the day. Progress report when i start....

Busy with the motor at the minute...

Couple of thing`s to keep it interesting 1, the sp crank weigh`s approx 1.5 kg more than the standard item but thats not my concern at the moment the primary drive is!! The primary drive has 2x more teeth than the standard crank so a different basket is the order of the day(got one),the matching basket only has four fittings as opposed to five on the standard clutch although it is the same physical size but has more plates(not counted yet!).
2. the timing plate/pick up points are different although this wont make any difference with the ignition i`m going to use,all the same interesting though....
Spoke to Ian (cross customs) and he think`s the crank could be from a v-tec bandit (one of the last apparently),this would explain the differences? Perhaps vv know`s he`s the bandit guru.....
One more question; How do you i`d an SP box?
More as and wnen fella`s.....

Re: Lets try again!!
wow some very very nice work and detailed, not been on for awhile as ive moved onto a zzr 600. I'll be making my 400 track only and doing ALOT of engine work to it. The SP box has a taller first gear so guessing it would have more teeth? :/

Re: Lets try again!!
Yep, SP gearbox is different tooth count.
As i understand sp has larger journals, if not at the crank the at least at the cams, have you compared?
The different triggers would be for 59 and 53 hp motors and the bandit/73a cranks have helical cut gears where as 76a have straight cut.
If its straight cut its not from a bandit.

Journals are larger and everything stacks up to point the crank out as an sp but that still leaves the difference between the primary drives/clutch baskets. Is Marsbar`s 400 a genuine sp and do`s it have a smaller clutch basket compared to standard? I have an sp inlet and there is a slight difference lift/duration etc but unfortunately mines scrap. Cheers for the info Chris....
