Hi.

I'm usually over on the v4 section of the forum but I have finally got my hands on a rrsp

It is a cocktail 3tj7 totally standard but needs some loving. Im not the type to leave it in the corner and not use it. So it will be used a bit in the summer.


Has any other member got one so I can compare what's standard and what isn't?

Any advice on flatside carbs?

I know a bit about Nc30 but lost on these beasties! So be gentle.

you know the rules-pictures or it didnt happen and lots of them .ive got a 3tj2 sp and im sure all 3 versions were the same bar colour differences and the 3tj6 and 3tj7 got flatslide carbs.there were im sure only 500 bikes built of the 3tj6 and 500 3tj7 so its more exclusive than an owo1 in that respect.the diferences between the fzr400rr and the sp versions are(takes deep breath)
sp has close ratio gearbox
The clutches are different, the SP has 9 friction plates and 8 steels, RR has 8 friction plates and 7 steels
The wheel spacers are different. On the SP the spacers are attached to the wheels to make re-fitting the wheel to the bike easier:
SP has lighter valve buckets
SP has a different final drive ratio
SP has stronger valve springs
SP has paddock stand bobbin lugs welded to the swinging arm
SP has adjustable front suspension (Pre-Load, Compression Damping, Rebound Damping):
SP has adjustable rear suspension with a remote resevoir
SP has coolant running into the oil filter housing and therefore has an extra hose to the radiator So a different radiator
SP has a single seat unit (so no pillion pegs):
The rear caliper carrying plate is different, which also means the spacers are different widths. As the spacers are attached to the SP wheel this means you have to swap caliper carrying plates when swapping rear wheels. The SP carrier fits into the swingarm to help faster wheel changes and the washer that sticks out on the right side is the reason the other spacers are different widths.
sp has a different rear subframe
if you need to know anything just ask thre may be other differences but i cant remember,hope this helps.

Very nice Kris, very Miami vice! I seem to remember there were differences between UK bikes and Japanese market sp models, primarily lighting differences. Is that the case?
