happened to me once, but the engine was on the bench, so I had to turn the engine upside down and 'shake it out'. Luckily, the engine was pretty dry so it didn't stick to anything.

Just done the valve clearances on my NC.

Didn't drop any and did stuff rag into all possible holes that the shims could fall into.

Better be safe than sorry.

If no luck how do I take the gear that drives the cams out? Is it the 4 nuts around it.

If that doesn't work I'll probably take the sump out of the right side engine casing.
I took my cam gears out, was a total waste of time for me.

As VFRMAN said theres 4 bolts and one in the centre... the rear cylnder one is a bastard to get to without removing the water pipe in the middle (and you would ideally want to replace the rubber gaskets you disturb) much easier to get clutch / sump off.

Dude, your sig is nearly half a page. Do us all a favour and slim it up a bit please? If you must use this space to mock a fellow member, you can always do it without Quote tags and multi linefeeds, but I would argue it's bad form particularly from a mod.
