Newbie - gk73a Questions

Post by Geordie_gixxer »

Hi all,

Just got myself a little 1988 gsxr 400 and not to sure about a few things, hopefully the people on heat can help. I'm sure it's an import as the speedo is in kph, can I change this to mph clocks if I find a set? Also I can't get it to start, there's a spark, fuel getting to the spark but it's a no go. I was thinking it might be the ecu/cdi as this was flooded with water or the regulator rectifier? Could a gk76a ecu and reg fit my bike as getting a hold of those items for the gk73a is like finding rocking horse s%*t. Any help is a appreciated.

Cheers

All GK73a are imports - no mph clocks - use an inline convertor or stickers
Reg/rec won't stop engine running - only controls charging once running
If CDI filled with water, well yeah thats probably the problem...
If not CDI then may well be carb orings or timing issues etc.

More info on all above can be found searching previous topics.

That's brilliant thanks. I've got a sticker on the speedo, was just wondering if a swap could be done. Will the gk76a ecu fit the gk73a? If not has anyone got one that I could have?

That's brilliant thanks, I might look into that. It's just te case of getting a cdi now to hopefully get the bike started. Been stood now for about 8years so going to take some doing I think.
