Re: weird charging problem ,found.....
That output sounds like it is just the power from the battery as it is connected directly to the battery. Perhaps a bit of voltage loss from the battery to the reg rec due to old / dirty wiring.SilverSurfer wrote:OK ,i did as u said and there is no reading even at higher rpm, what now? but funny enough when i plug in the R/R the output from it is around 8 to 9 volts.
So lets re-cap.
You tested the right side of the plug yes? (The side that goes to the genny, NOT side side that goes to the reg/rec)
You had your multimeter set to AC volts NOT DC, ie the 200/300v setting if it is manual meter.
You tested the wires in pairs, IE from one wire to another, not the frame or any other point, you didnt short the probes out by connecting them together and the contacts are clean.
If so then it really does sound dead if there is no output at all.
What is the restistance between the pairs of AB / BC and AC and can you get any resistance reading between any of the wires and earth?
If your results are true then it looks like a new genny.
Also id be concerned that the reading from the reg/rec is so low, take a reading from the battery terminals then at the reg/rec. They are connected together so should be the same... Unless you have a bad connection / some wiring fault (corroreded wire etc) which might have overloaded the genny in the first place...

Re: weird charging problem ,found.....
So i finally removed the whole thing...

and the R/R ....

i can`t see anything wrong
Do you guys see any thing? OH and i started the bike ( before completely removing the stater)and connected one of my headlight bulbs to two of the 3 wires and the bulb did light up so i don`t know....

Re: weird charging problem ,found.....
Why are the wires from the rect/reg cut-off, they should have a spade terminal at each end and fit into a plastic connector block?
To know if the stator is ok you need to do the electrical measurements as recommended by Neosophist and myself. What resistance do you measure between the three yellow wires coming from the stator and are the terminals and plastic connector block at the end of the yellow wires in good condition?

I`m getting 0.9 ohms on all three ,as for the wires they were soldered together (bought the bike like that)......magg wrote:Why are the wires from the rect/reg cut-off, they should have a spade terminal at each end and fit into a plastic connector block?

Re: weird charging problem ,found.....
I am guessing that reg/rec is fried. Check the diodes on it.

Re: weird charging problem ,found.....
0.9 ohms for each yellow wire pair is good, what resistance do you measure from any of the yellow wires to the metal frame of the stator. If you get a reading of infinite resistance then IMO stator is probably ok.
Next you need to check all the connections back as far as the rect/reg. You should still get 0.9 ohms on the yellows wires at the point where they connect to the rect/reg.
If stator readings are ok then the fault is either the rect/reg or the battery has simply died.
To do any more checking you will need to refit the stator/flywheel etc so you can run the charging system.
What battery voltage did you measure the battery voltage when the engine was running?

Get a good multimeter and run this flow chart... http://www.electrosport.com/media/pdf/f ... iagram.pdfSilverSurfer wrote:OK...how do i do that?vfrman wrote:I am guessing that reg/rec is fried. Check the diodes on it.
