Re: Porndoguk - VFR400 R3K NC30
how the bike looked a few weeks back before MOT.

had a bit of a mare with the tyres as some of youll know, also had advisorys for pulsing front and rear brakes, and stiff steering, steering is fine i have a damper fitted :s
brakes im after a fireblade 16mm M/C and for the rear i have ordered a new brake disc its beyond looking good!
Work in progress,
Thanks to our forum hero Geoff33 i got the ball rolling, spend a few hours polishing, tidying up a few scratches, chips, tank was 9-10 IMO and geoff said it was far from mint, either way for £55 delivered i was over the moon.

Ive been collecting a few parts over the past few months, and spent the last 2 weeks slowly fitting and fettling
HRC Carb Feeder tray to help my flat spot, where my bike was going rich, those following will know i have some fucked up carbs,
was on 115F and 118R but on my last visit to projex Kev showed me that on his o2 graph on his 35, that the readings were the same so jetting didnt need to be different,
im now on 120 Jets front and rear, ive removed ALL shims from my needles, rubber flap has gone, HRC feeder in, and a TYGA carbon lid fitted, ive checked all float heights all bang on. ive adjusted the chokes so they all open in sync. started first time and seems ok in the shed.

ive also refitted my Ignitech and set the dwell time and hopefully should all be ok now.
i recovered the base in heat reflective foil tape

Sub Filter lid, lockwired into place

Tank then fitted

new abba stand in tight shed - all stripped ready for the next lot of work

i had some brackets made up from some Tech drawing i did with the help of Kayla, so i could mount my crash bungs without having to drill my new fairings.

New overflow bottle fitted, (Cow & Gate first milk bottle)

Next Mission was to tackle the Shock!
i removed the Wheel, hugger, Undertray, and then shock,
i fitted a faulker 800lb spring, and then put my old R&G shock tube on,
filed off some alloy off the under tray/battery box mounting lug, and then 1.5mm off the right hand side of the top shock mount of the shock not the bike, so it would sit more to the the right that the lug.

Damping Set midway as per BMW setup manual

New RK520 Chain Fitted, and a bit of a general clean up seeing as i had easy access,
all bits refited and torqued excpet for the wheel battery etc,

tomorrows jobs, refit battery, tidy up some wireing, add a earth for the REG/REC, have a clean up of my fairing washers and see how many are fooked before ordering from Rick O, ive ordered a load of nick naks from ebay nuts, bolts, washers, etc HRC tank pad, some more crimps, brake disc, stainless steel R pin/Clip for the rear wheel in fed up of trashing split pins.
also some Titanium Brake caliper bolts for the front and rear for £26 delivered.
i have also recovered my Rider and Pillion seats with alcantara, also have a solo seat cover painted by our very own tony/Drunkn Munky so big thanks goes to him, and for the loan of his spring compressors,
more to follow SOON!

Looking good, tank especially.
How much clearance do you have between the bmw shock and your tyga exhaust? I was worried about the wider spring. You not going to put some extra rebound in?

Looking good!
Couple of questions:
1. How did you find fitting the shock? Any clearance issues apart from having to file down the mount?
2. Why do people use the overflow bottle? Does it replace the reservoir under the rear cowling?

Re: Porndoguk - VFR400 R3K NC30
Im going to set the preload today and then take some tools out with me at the weekend to find the right setting for me im currently dieting so i can fit my one piece again my optimum weight is 150lbs and i currently weigh 162lb so no doubt ill be changing again soon. However i do like a stiff rear endTimon wrote:Looking good, tank especially.

Room i dont think there is any tbh, i removed my standard nc shock to find a hole in the shock tube what the tyga has burnt into it, so i guess this will probally rub it.
Edit pics taken i cant get my fingers past it,

1 piece of piss in honesty, only extra tool you need is a file, for the shock top mount and frame lug for the under tray.iDemonix wrote:Looking good!

It slots in piece of piss, and bolts etc all go back in fine, nothing is in the way.
2 over flow bottle, pointless imo it stores extra weight and space and its in the way when trying to fill the rear brake res, i prefer the little over flow bottle neat and out the way and also adds 6.9bhp
