Re: GSXR400 (GK76A PROJECT ) Bike in the making!
bike dropped a valve on number 1 cylinder totally mashed the head and the piston slight score on the bore so gonna spend £120 on another top end and fit that keep the rest as spares and see what happens tbh.
from what i can tell the valve rebounded and let the collier go dropping the valve... it took the spark plug with it also lmfao i was pist off at first but now its stripped who cares just gotta rebuild it and get on with it i suppose lol

gaskets, and new top end for the bike is ordered just waiting for it all to arrive
Ive researched how to do valve clearences and shims and also timing and i do believe the timing pins are 20.

Yh go off the bandit 400 for engine work, my and my mates bike both dropped valves. I bought a nwe engine for £250 and wacked it in but i did a full engine strip and rebuild on my mates. its best to make sure you get all the debree out, this was at the bottom of my mates sump when i took it off....

was also bits of piston in the bottom end also.
seems to be a problem with these engines dropping valves :/
im gonna be rebuilding the engine i bought as its smokey, most likly the valve stem seals so i got some new ones and going to put the BBK back on so its new pistions/rings and fresh bore anyway.

im gonna drain the oil anyways so ill take the sump off and clean that out thanks for the heads up on that i cant see any debri in the engine from the top so its obviously all in the bottom if there is any however it didnt seem very bad at all.
head gasket and base gasket coming tomorrow and new top end should be here in a couple days the timing marks for these engines is 20 pins correct>?

Wouldnt valve stem seals cause backing firing and not starting aswell? could it just be a head gasket?

theres no smoke, but exhaust inside is proper oily black rather then carbony. it does loose anoticable amount of oil without smoke :/ no signs of an oil leak either.
im doing a full strip anyway and i bought new seals for old engine so there only 300 miles old anyway so ill just stick them in. hopeing to gain an extra 20% power and about 35% torque
