Need urgent pre-race help

Post by doodleface »

Hey guys I completely forgot about this cause I was messing around with other shit.
My bike has a problem where the front of the fuel tank doesn't secure to the frame, i've never seen how it should be, so even though its bolted on at the back, the front wobbles freely side to side. It can't come out, but its really disconcerting at 180k/hr to lean hard right and feel your tank move. How the hell do I secure this thing? There looks to maybe require a bolt and stuff but once its on, not sure if I want to remove the radiator every time I wanna remove the tank?

If its an NC30 there should be a big rubber block that sits in the v behind the headstock. Mine has that in place and is very solid.

you need the rubber - beg borrow or steal one. It will twat your frame and lower tank welds too if allowed to vibrate.

a possible bodge for now would be to put some cut tubingon the lower tank edges to get them to rest on the frame spars

You can use a piece of large diameter hose folded in half as a temporary solution

17511-KV3-000. Quite remarkably it's listed as a very reasonable £3.97 plus VAT at David Silver, 5-7 day lead time. Same as the RVF part, might consider getting a spare!

I had the same thing missing when I bought my NC30 race bike. The tank moved around like it was going to fall off. I had no idea what was missing under there so I folded up some cardboard and taped it in there until I figured it out. Yes, the cheapie block of rubber was missing. You'd do well do get some rubber under the side edges of the tank as well - or get the OEM parts.

Good luck on the track mate.
