you'd of thought so,Evilchicken0 wrote:Yeah - but you wouldn't really fit a quick shifter to a road bike, it's a race mod, which would draw the conclusion there wouldn't be a speedo fitted.
but what i'm trying to get my head round, is, that if it's got a standard cdi and loom with no signs of tampering then why aint it restricted,
or possibly it still is
@ david868 have you ridden it since you got it ?
did it top out at about 112/115 mph ?
is so then it's still restricted
anyone can prep a bike of the track, but did they go the whole hog (no pun intended) with the electrics as well or just make it look the part
if you bought it then it'll be worth looking into, if you built it then ignore my mad ravings and i'll get back to my granny and the eggs

Yes its being ridden as am running a lad on it out jurby this season, trouble is out there even on the straight we'll be only just getting over a 100mph, i think on the last dyno run it was 120 ish. And no i never built it from the start, i bought the bike but when i got it...it was abit rough

It sounds like its restricted ... it should rev out to 14 ... maybe a little more if you're being brave.

Re: 3tj quickshifter?
that's kinda what i was gettin at boris, it might say race bike on the tin but is it actually a de-restricted race bike.
@david did you get the dyno print out ?
cos if it is restricted you should be able to tell from the print out as the cdi needs a signal from the speedo, and as the front wheel don't turn on the dyno then it won't get the signal and will restrict to 12.5K rpm through the gears, on the road the cdi gets the signal so doesn't restrict the revs just the speed at 180kph (112ish mph)
as i understand it
EDIT: the M-Max box or a doctored cdi should lift the revs to about 15.5K rpm from 14.5K rpm, but the kph/mph converter doesn't give the extra 1K rpm as the restriction is still there, just at 180mph instead of 180kph

Hi thanks for all the advice, i now have a translogic quickshifter fitted which just went straight into the coils and no need too touch the cdi

Re: 3tj quickshifter?
Cordona or translogic quickshifter is the best to go for doesn't matter what cdi you run it merely cuts the ignition for a split second. I've got a cordona and get seamless gear changes with it.
