Re: GK76 track bike
First, a few pics of the bike as I got it:

Well today I made a start on the rear end of the bike. I removed the oily old steel chain adjusters and replaced them with a set of aluminium ones I had made. The standard ones weigh 270g and the new ones weigh 95g so its only a meagre saving of 175g, but it all adds up and they do look a lot better than the standard steel items!

I removed the rear wheel to clean the back end and also to compare the wheel with an RGV one I have. There is a slight difference in the offset of the sprocket of 5mm but that is easy to overcome, the biggest difference was in the weight. Now admitedly my RGV wheel has had some work done to it to remove some weight (aluminium wheel spacers, floating rear disc with aluminium centre, aluminium sprocket and I have also removed the ridge from the centre of the wheel) The GSXR wheel complete with tyre, disc, sprocket and spacers weighed 14.6kg while the RGV with equivalent parts was 2.3kg less at 12.3kg. Both wheels had a Bridgestone BT90 but the gsxr was a 160 and the rgv was a 150 so the difference in the rims may not be that much.
RGV wheel:

Gsxr wheel:

I will make up some aluminium wheel spacers this weekend and after the track day will see what I can do to reduce the weight of the gsxr wheel.
I also fitted a set of cheap levers I got off ebay. I cant make them for the price they charge! The clutch lever is a little loose but I can shim that if I need to.

Re: GK76 track bike
I have seen that on ebay a couple of times, looks like an honest bike for the money.

Re: GK76 track bike
I am happy with the condition of it for the money I paid. It is now a case of improving what is there for the minimum amount of spending! Luckily I have a lot of stuff that fits from my RGV. Today I will be fitting the top yoke and clip ons I made which will save a little more weight and look a bit more bling!

Re: GK76 track bike
I fitted the set of clip ons I made and a top yoke as well, over a kilo saved in weight on the front end.

Going over the bike I have been putting right a few bits and bobs. It seems to have an oil leak on the starter gear cover, so I have got a gasket and hopefully that will cure the problem. It also had extra mounting holes in the fairing, so I have put aligned it as it should, using the correct mounting points and decent screws.
I have heard that these bikes are sensative to carb settings and as the bike is running pod filters I have bought a standard air box. I will try both at the track day at Donington next Friday.

Re: GK76 track bike
I think I will go with the standard box to start off with, it sounds like the best option.
I am off to work now to machine the first side of the rearsets, quite pleased with the design, just hope they fit ok!

Any chance you might make another set of the chain adjusters. would be very interested in buying some for my GK76A racer.

Re: GK76 track bike
All the chain adjusters are now sold.
I have started work on the rearsets, hope to have something finished in the next few weeks.

I have also made a new torque arm for the rear caliper which is lighter than the standard item and clears the rear wheel.
I had the cracked engine casing welded and have machined it flat, I will machine the counter bore on the other side tomorrow and then it can be refitted to the bike.
