bit of help with a gsxr 400 sp2
bought a bike from this guy, and i was driving it for about 2 weeks, when the engine blew out, got it recovered to a nearby garage and the guy says that a new engine is needed, because this one is so badly messed up.... great
so where would i buy an engine from and will any gsxr 400 engine fit, or would it have to be the sp2 model.
the guy at the garage cant source an engine but he will fit it for me?
any help guys?
ill try get some pics up tonight.

valve dropped? happened to mine n me mates. bought a new engine for mine but repaired me mates. needed new head, barrels n piston.
easy swap but some engines internals vary. you will most likely have to swap the timing rotor over.

Any GK76 engine will fit. The SP 2 is an an SP with a standard 76's gearbox and different CDI. So internally, if you wanted the exact same engine you'd need a the exhaust (someone confirm that it is exhaust not intake, I forget) cam out of an SP. Everything else you should have.

you mean the downpipes?
I didnt know the cams were different.
Shall I swap my cams over then? my engine that blew up was SP but engine i have now is +1993 engine restricted.
Already swapped the timing rotor and will swap the gearbox when i tune the engine again. hopeing for about 72-75 this time.

Its usually the inlet cam thats changed but the parts book would show the difference.
