why is the speedo cog on nc30 plastic?
ive been wondering this for a while..... why are they plastic? they just keep on baking in half. my original one broke, and the one i bought from rick also broke a few months ago... wouldnt it be better if it was just metal so it will be indestructible?

Consumable parts is what keeps manufacturers in business. There's no profit in new bikes. Think about it

Conventional wisdom says to know your limits. To know your limits you need to find them first. Finding your limits generally involves getting in over your head and hoping you live long enough to benefit from the experience. That's the fun part.

just because im not good mechnicaly doesnt mean im not good with a lathe (they are completely different things....). ive had 5 years experience in wood and metal work in high school, including blackmsithing. i make my own computer desk from aluminum, with plasma cutting and mig welding. you cant judge someone just because they fail at one thing.

Hmmmm.
Making a computer desk with a plasma and a welder is a bit different to machining minute and exacting parts.........

I had 5 years experience doing Religious Education, it didn't make me a priest. I did science for 5 years and im not a professor,
However i did do mechanical engineering at college for 2 years and spent many hours using lathes and milling machines, and that said im good but not to the level to want to make MANY parts to the same spec, you need CNC lathes

if you get the dimensions exact, it is not too hard to machine a tiny component like that.. i machined laser hosts. (a hobby of mine) and is not THAT difficult. and doing 5 years in RE and since, isnt really the same thing... with lahe and wood work etc, you actually get some practical experience, where as in science its all theory based and some practical.
