Scoobles rebuild

I bought my NC about a year ago, fixed some niggling problems and rode it for about 50 miles before it developed an oil leak.
So I have just finished putting my little NC30 engine back together.
It was looking pretty sorry for itself when i pulled it out of the frame so I got the top case painted, and whilst it was apart, I fitted a set of NC35 pistons and new rings, lightly ported the head, re cut the valve seats to three angles, ported the ex manifold, lacquered the heads and cam covers and re set the valve clearances with new shims and brand new inlet rubbers.
Got the engine back in the frame, but forgot to fit the manifold, so I had to drop the swingarm out to get it in (not easy), then put the swingarm in and connect the linkages which it didn't want to do without a fight the as the exhaust was in the way). Tonight, I'll put the front exhausts on, bottom rad and then change the float needles as some are worn - hopefully this week I'll get it started.

just out of interest where was your oil leak? I'm just about to start an NC30 rebuild once I've got my 35 back on the road, and my 30 has an oil leak, not quite sure where it's coming from yet

it was leaking from the front head and from the sump

That motor looks clean, such a pity the NC35s are bare unpainted. :-)

Will the bike be ready for our next meeting, probably 2 weeks looking at this weather.

just put the rads and exhaust on tonight, need to get some hose clips, then coolant, oil, carbs and vroom!.....(hopefully)

You make it sound so easy. I've got an engine swap to perform on my NC30 and I've been putting it off for weeks.

I put mine off for some time...it is not that much of a ballache...but the prospect of it is a pain.

it wasn't easy, but because it looked like such a rat, something needed to be done. The top engine case had to be repainted twice, when I put the two halves together I broke a selector fork so had to get a new one. Dropped a shim inside the engine (got it out). Put the engine in the frame, but forgot to fin the rear manifold, so had to drop out the swingarm and couldn't get the dog bone link back in because the exhaust was in the way, so had to disconnect it from the swingarm. Front exhaust were a pain to fit too, but got there eventually.
Finally got it all in and forgot to put the endless chain back on......ARSE!
