Fuel valve/cock NC29

Post by gege »

How ye lads,

I fitted a new shock to my nc29 race bike but the fuel valve was in the way. i removed the fuel valve and shortened the pipe its connected to so it will fit closer to the tank.

I cannot get a die to the same spec threads as what is originally on the stem. called to three engineering shops but no joy.

Can anyone recommend where I would get a fitting and in line gate valve to replace what came off. I am open to suggestions.

Any old butchery will do only problem is the diameter of pipe is not common either so getting a die to thread the outside of the pipe wont be easy. I was going to thread the inside of the pipe.

opinions/ideas welcome.

What size is the threaded part?
Would some thing like this work?

Listen to this for madness - its 1mm pitch on a 22mm dia pipe

usually you get a 1mm pitch on a 6mm dia pipe!!

i have sorted the problem at the moment. i went to tap the inside dia but this is lined with plastic (the lower part of the tank filter) this failed so in the hight of frustration i picked up a male air hose connection ( from 1/2" air line im running round the shed) and threaded it in.

To my shock it fitted perfect so i took a gamble - put the tank back on, plumbed it in. two hours later no sign of any leak/weep.

it solid as a rock but Im scared to take it out for fear of cross threading the plastic lining and causing a leak.

Im racing this weekend so will let ya know if it holds up.

Think the plastic is the tank filter, it should pull out with some thin nose pliers 8-)

If you can get the nut off the fuel tap most motor factors should be able to get you a spigot to fit??
Looking at my fuel tap ,not sure how the got the nut on there, could be hack saw time? :o
