Rvf400 power issue
Hi everyone I am new to 400greybike im from Cape Town i own a RVF400 and ive got a problem my bike in second gear or higher has started to do this thing where it goes in perfectly like normal but as soon as i hit the power-band under full throttle just starts to rev out almost as if i engaged the clutch it and stops laying down the power .
if i shift and drive slow under 8k rpm it does not rely happen. Any ideas what it could be ive adjusted the clutch but that had no effect on the problem.

Re: Rvf400 power issue
I'd guess the clutchplates are worn beyond their limit and therefore no amount of adjustment will cure the issue, you'll be wanting at a minimum new friction plates, if I were you I'd put a wanted ad up for some on here as even with int postage I think it'd be cheaper than trying to source some in SA but I may be wrong

Sounds like the clutch is worn out.
Time to buy new plates.

Re: Rvf400 power issue
How much money do you have?
Never used anything but Honda originals but no doubt people on here will be able to help.
I believe the RVF clutch is the same as the NC30 clutch so you'll need a special castellated socket to take the clutch apart.
Get the socket and take the clutch apart first, measure the friction materials and metal plates with a proper measuring tool, micrometer / vernier caliper and check what you need to replace.
Soak new plates in oil before fitting.

Re: Rvf400 power issue
Hey man, I'm from Durban and sometimes when the guys down here don't have parts I get hold of a place in Cape Town called Ryans Motorcycle Surgery. They deal exclusively in grey imports and their prices are really cheap. Google them and give them a call, they're real helpful dudes. Good luck, hope you come right...
